Timetable and description of events

Every year the Omnibus Society holds its most prestigious event, the summer Presidential Weekend, located in the area of the current President, who this year is Peter Hendy, Managing Director, Surface Transport, Transport for London.

The event is residential and therefore allows a good social mix. It gives a great opportunity for newer members, and for longer-standing members - whether frequent or infrequent attendees - to enjoy the events and to see much of what the Omnibus Society is about:

• the mix of individual interests. Meet members involved in transport history
• those members with local knowledge and the keen-eyed photographers
• those who work in the industry - perhaps have reached the top and retired with good memories, - and those with views on how they see the future of the industry

The Society's 2004 President, Peter Hendy, Managing Director, Surface Transport, Transport for London, is hosting his Presidential Weekend in London.

The provisional programme is as follows: Friday, 9th July 2004 Assemble at hotel late afternoon Own arrangements for dinner Society AGM Possible further presentations Saturday, 10th July 2004 Travel to 55 Broadway General presentation on TfL/London Buses Split into three groups for visits to Centrecom, Metrocom and London Traffic Control Centres (Victoria) Buffet Lunch Afternoon inspections of, or visits to, new projects; e.g. gas buses and cashless operation, and possible operator visit. Return to hotel Dinner on the Thames Sunday, 11th July 2004 Acton Museum Depot (Conducted Tour and possible presentation on Museum Redisplay Project) Buffet Lunch Briefing and visit to Uxbridge Road Corridor Return to Hotel Own arrangements for dinner PHRG Meeting Monday, 12th July 2004 Travel to Croydon Visit Tramlink Buffet Lunch Visit to Public Carriage Office (Penton Street) Disperse early afternoon
