OMNIBUS SOCIETY PRESIDENTIAL WEEKENDS

The Society organises a Presidential Weekend each year, normally centred
on the area of the operations of the company with which he is associated, if it is a
bus-operating company. Details of the Programmes from 1999 onward will
be pointed to from this page.
The link to each year's event will be activated as soon as details are available.

- In 1999 centred on Egham, when the President was Stephen Morris, Editor of Buses.
- In 2000 the President was Ron Whittle, OBE, Senior Partner of Whittle, Coach, Bus and Holidays. The weekend was based on Manor House, Northfield, Birmingham.
- In 2001 the President was Moir Lockhead, Chief Executive of First Group. The Presidential Weekend was held during the weekend of September 14-17, 2001.
- In 2002 the President was Mr Peter Bell, Chairman and Managing Director of Preston Bus. The Presidential Weekend was held over the weekend of 6th-9th September 2002.
- In 2003 the President was Mr Ted Hesketh, retiring Managing Director of Translink, operators of bus, coach and railway services in Northern Ireland. The Presidential Weekend was be held over the weekend of 19th-23rd September 2003.
- In 2004 the President was Mr Peter Hendy, Managing Director, Surface Transport, Transport for London. The Presidential Weekend was held over the weekend of 9th-12th July in London.
- In 2005 the President was Mr John Owen, Managing Director, Thamesdown Transport. The Presidential Weekend was held over the weekend of 9th-12th September in Swindon.
- In 2006 the President was Mr Chris Moyes, recently CEO, Go-Ahead Group plc. The Presidential Weekend was held over the weekend of 1st-4th September in Durham.
Sadly we have to report that our President for 2006, Chris Moyes, passed away on Tuesday, 12th September 2006. His obituary from the Daily Telegraph can be read here. He will be greatly missed.
- In 2007 the President is Mr Giles Fearnley, Chief Executive, Blazefield Group/North Bus Operations, Transdev plc. The Presidential Weekend will be held over the weekend of 31st August-3th September in Bingley.
- In 2008 the President will be Mr Gavin Booth, Chairman of Bus Users UK. The Presidential Weekend will be held in Edinburgh during September 2008.
