
ARRIVA DERBY – 6 January 2008: New 68A and 68B, Swadlincote - Melbourne - Derby, replaces service 69 (Linton - East Midlands Airport) and provides through buses to Derby once more.
ARRIVA MIDLANDS – 28 January 2008: 103, Leicester Quicksilver Park and Ride, is lost to Veolia (Paul James) on re-tender.
FIRST POTTERIES – 6 January 2008: Among several minor changes, the Sunday evening service on 18, Hanley - Leek, is transferred to D & G Coach & Bus on City of Stoke-on-Trent re-tendering.
TRAVEL WEST MIDLANDS – 6 January 2008: 934, Birmingham - Pheasey, extended to Foley Arms (absorbing 934A). The frequency on 993, Birmingham - Streetly, is increased and the whole service now runs via Banners Gate, absorbing 993A.
CENTRAL CONNECT – 7 January 2008: S1, Birmingham Stationlink, is withdrawn without replacement. 104X and 112 are incorporated into new 903, Birmingham - Sutton Coldfield - Lichfield. 113X is now 113, and both it and 118 are extended from Streetly to Aldridge.
GREEN TRANSPORT CO (The Green Bus) – 8 January 2008: FORT is the name of a new hourly Mon-Fri service from Fort Dunlop to Birmingham City Centre, understood to be financially supported by The Fort shopping centre.
HEARTLANDS TRAVEL – 26/28 January 2008: This is a new operator, and has started 778 Nuneaton - Baddesley Ensor, 10/11 Tamworth - Fazeley Circular, and commuter services HX1 (from Tamworth via Kingsbury) and HX2 (from Dordon via Polesworth and Stoneydelph) into Birmingham.
MIDLAND CLASSIC – 7 January 2008: New 9, Burton - Swadlincote - Ashby, basically hourly, replaces parts of similar Arriva Midlands 9.
VEHICLE NOTES
Arriva Midlands North have 800 (SN56 AWZ), an Alexander-Dennis Enviro 200 Dart, at Tamworth.
Elkin Travel began using N777 ELK (formerly N903 PFC) in January. It is a Plaxton Verde-bodied Dennis Lance, latterly with Diamond, but one that got rather wet in Carlisle a few years ago! Now in attractive all-over red, it can be seen on the 766, Tamworth - Nuneaton.
