Using the Library

The fact that the Society's collection is unique has been recognised by the British Library. Members of the public are able to use the facilites, but must pay a research fee; Omnibus Society members, of course, use the facilites free of charge.

Members planning research at Acton must make contact with the London Librarian at least 10 days before any planned visit, this is due to access being arranged with london transport museum. The Library is open from 09.30 to 4.45p.m.(16.45) every Tuesday. Access on other days may be possible by discussion with the Librarian.

Photocopying is available, a charge of 20p a copy is made by the London Transport Museum for this (the same price as for anybody using the LTM library). The staff at the London Transport Museum will not allow access to our Library unless an Omnibus Society official is on site. Access to the Omnibus Society Library does not allow you to visit any other part of the London Transport Museum site. Directions of how to get there will be sent out with the acknowlegment of your visit.

Please apply by post to the London Librarian in advance. His contact details are:

Martin Kingsnorth, 28 Windmill Court , Windmill Road , LONDON, W5 4DN

Please enclose an SAE for reply.

Or contact him by phone on 0208 560 4264 (in the evenings if you can).
