  Presidential Weekend

Bingley 31st August-3rd September, 2007

Timetable and description of events

Every year the Omnibus Society holds its most prestigious event, the summer Presidential Weekend, located in the area of the current President, who this year is Giles Fearnley, Chief Executive, Blazefield group/North Bus Operations, Transdev plc.

The event is residential and therefore allows a good social mix. It gives a great opportunity for newer members, and for longer-standing members - whether frequent or infrequent attendees - to enjoy the events and to see much of what the Omnibus Society is about:

  • the mix of individual interests. Meet members involved in transport history
  • those members with local knowledge and the keen-eyed photographers
  • those who work in the industry - perhaps have reached the top and retired with good memories, - and those with views on how they see the future of the industry

The Presidential Weekend will be based at the Ramada Bradford/Bingley Hotel, Bradford Road, Bingley, West Yorkshire.

The programme, developed with the valued support and co-operation of our President, Mr Giles Fearnley and Blazefield, will be as follows:

  • Friday, 31st August

Afternoon: Visit to either Optare in Leeds or Arriva Bys & Coach at Gomersal. Numbers for both these visits are strictly limited and early booking is encouraged. Preference will be given to non NW&Y Branch members for the visit to Optare, and bookings for both will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Evening: Buffet reception and presentations.
